Dr. Nicholas van Rooij is a Consultant Dermatologist based in Brisbane, specialising in clinical medical and procedural dermatology. With a focus on patient-centred care and treatments in his practice, ensuring every patient receives the highest standard of dermatological care.

Leading with Expertise and Dedication
Dr Nicholas van Rooij is a consultant dermatologist and a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, with an interest in general, procedural and laser dermatology. He has broad experience, having worked in leading institutions including the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital, Mater Hospital and the Queensland Institute of Dermatology. He was awarded a coveted international training position at St George’s Hospital in London, one of the largest teaching hospitals in the United Kingdom and internationally recognised for its excellence in dermatology and lymphovascular medicine.
His time there broadened his clinical and academic experience, especially in complex medical dermatology. Dr van Rooij is committed to equity in dermatological access, including helping to establish Queensland’s first continuous urban Indigenous dermatology service at the Southern Queensland Centre of Excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, under the mentorship and guidance of A/Prof Erin McMeniman. He remains actively involved in this service, having taken a consultant dermatology position.
Nicholas is also a current member of the Australasian College of Dermatologists' Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs Committee. He has published at local, national and international levels, with contributions to the Australasian Journal of Dermatology and the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, among others. He has also presented at various conferences and the prestigious Royal Society of Medicine in London.
Deeply involved in dermatological research and education, Dr. van Rooij integrates the latest clinical advancements into his practice. His philosophy centers on proactive skin management, ensuring that every patient receives a treatment plan as unique as their complexion.
